Blackwell Town Cemetery Cleanup November 2015
A Community Effort. Saturday November 14th in The Blackwell Town Cemetery, just southeast of Midland, a good thing happened. Sponsored by the African American Historical Association, (AAHA) and members of the Ebenezer Baptist Church; Mrs. Karen White coordinated the efforts of several organizations that came together to clean one of many historic African American Cemeteries in Fauquier County. Volunteers from the County Planning Commission, Architectural Review Board, Sons of Confederate Veterans, Black Horse Camp 780 and the Fauquier Family Cemetery Foundation, joined the church, and the AAHA in their efforts to clean the one acre portion of the “Old cemetery” that had been left on touched I was told for over 30 years.
